Huge game by McKelvie boosts Stratford over Strathroy, 6-3

Behind a great game by Patrick McKelvie, who had one goal and two assists, the Stratford Cullitons defeated the Strathroy Rockets, 6-3.

McKelvie got on the board by slotting home a goal 13:11 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Stratford. Mitch Vandergunst provided the assist. McKelvie dished an assist on Tyson Baker's goal that made the score 3-1 Stratford at 14:52 into the first period. He added another helper on Carter Allen's goal that made the score 6-3 Stratford at 19:17 into the third period.

Stratford additionally got points from Allen, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Hayden Broomhead, who also had one goal and one assist, Nathan Templeman, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Baker, who also registered one goal and one assist. Tyler Randerson also scored for Stratford. Other players who recorded assists for Stratford were Jake Pleon, who had one.

Strathroy was helped by Dan Chapman, who tallied one goal. Chapman scored on the power play 3:40 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Stratford. A tripping penalty on Zach Van Louwe had put the Rockets on the power play. Nick Whitworth picked up the assist. Others who scored for Strathroy included Jack Kilgour and Sam Vokes, who scored one goal each. In addition, Strathroy received assists from Kieran Milne, Matt Knight-Bedour, and Mark MacAulay, who each chipped in one.

Nicholas Caldwell recorded 25 saves for Stratford. The Cullitons incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Strathroy's Mat Ouellet stopped 20 shots out of the 25 that he faced. The Rockets incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
