Morrison leads St. Catharines over Chatham, 7-4

Tyler Morrison was all over the ice for the St. Catharines Falcons, as he tallied one goal and two assists in St. Catharines' 7-4 win over the Chatham Maroons.

Morrison beat Bo Bessette with a shot 9:19 into the second period on the power play to make the score 5-1 St. Catharines. A checking from behind penalty on Connor Doran had put the Falcons on the power play. Manny Manns provided the assist. Morrison dished an assist on Tyler Jackson's goal that made the score 2-0 St. Catharines at 8:28 into the first period. He added another helper on Jake Evans's goal that made the score 6-2 St. Catharines at 12:54 into the second period.

St. Catharines forced Chatham's goaltenders to work all game long, racking up 31 shots and forcing 24 saves. Bessette made 20 stops and Jacob Lucier made four. The Falcons' penalty kill unit could not stop the Maroons' power play, which converted on two of three opportunities.

St. Catharines also got points from Jackson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Evans, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Manns, who also had one goal and one assist. Nicholas Dozzi also scored for St. Catharines. In addition, St. Catharines received assists from Broderick Kelly, who had three and Ryan Doucette, Brandon Cercone, Cam Blakely, and Paolo De Sousa, who each chipped in one.

St. Catharines was unable to stop Chatham from sending pucks towards the net, and the Maroons eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Chatham was helped by Steven Beenackers, who racked up one goal and one assist. Beenackers scored 12:50 into the first period to make the score 2-1 St. Catharines. Brayden Hopkins picked up the assist. Chatham additionally got points from Jared Dennis, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Hopkins, who also registered one goal and one assist. Chatham also got a goal from Alexander Morgan as well. More assists for Chatham came via Connor Annett, Nate Pietens, Steven Szekesy, and Brennan Feasey, who contributed one each.

The Falcons' Jonathan D Ilario stopped 29 shots out of the 33 that he faced. St. Catharines incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Maroons incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Team's Doran and Morgan were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
