Ancaster downs Leamington, 6-3

The Leamington Flyers lost to the Ancaster Avalanche, 6-3.

Ancaster was relatively well disciplined in the game, receiving only nine minors and one major for 23 minutes in penalty time. The Avalanche stayed under their season average of 33.0 penalties minutes per game this season. Ancaster bested its season scoring average. The Avalanche average 2.9 goals per game. Ancaster had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just one goal on nine chances.

The Avalanche were led by Michael Pollice, who registered two goals and one assist. Pollice scored the first of his two goals at 6:25 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Luke Zupan assisted on the tally. Pollice's next tally made the score 6-3 Ancaster with 14 seconds left in the third period. Ancaster additionally got points from Cole Nagy, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Ancaster included Max Balinson, Lucas Pozzobon, and Michael Faliero, who scored one goal each. In addition, Ancaster received assists from Lucas Triemstra, who had two and Brett Farrelly and Zach Maciel, who each chipped in one.

Leamington forced Ancaster goalie Matt Calas to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots. The Flyers were hit hard by penalties in the contest, and totaled 11 minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time.

Leamington was led by Kyle Quick, who racked up one goal and two assists. Quick scored on the power play 3:57 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Leamington. The Flyers had taken the advantage when the Avalanche's Nagy got sent off for high sticking. Chris Scott provided the assist. Leamington also got points from Scott, who also had one goal and one assist. Leamington also got a goal from Blaine Bechard as well. More assists for Leamington came via J.P. Grineau, Ryan Muzzin, and Matthew Opblinger, who contributed one each.

Ancaster's Calas stopped 40 shots out of the 43 that he faced. For the Avalanche, Hayden Guitard was ejected from the game. Michael Barrett took the loss and made 13 saves before being replaced by Trevor Wheaton who made three saves. Leamington registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. The Flyers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jacob McGhee was ejected from the game.
