Boyer leads Sarnia over Thorold, 11-1

The Sarnia Legionnaires' Davis Boyer had a big offensive game, scoring six goals and contributing two assists in his team's 11-1 win over the Thorold Blackhawks.

Boyer's first goal came 4:01 into the first period. He then added goals at 12:08 into the first, at 3:21 into the second, at 10:20 into the third, at 12:00 into the third, and at 14:02 into the third.

Sarnia was led by goalie Hunter Johnson, who finished with 29 saves while allowing one goal. Johnson managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.0 prior to the game.

The Legionnaires stifled Thorold's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Sarnia forced the Blackhawks goalie Ian Shorthouse to work between the pipes, taking 57 shots. The Legionnaires bested their season scoring average. Sarnia has scored at the pace of 6.2 goals per game during the current campaign. The Legionnaires got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. Sarnia could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game.

Sarnia also got points from Cody Trowell, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Riley Babkirk, who also had two goals and two assists. Sarnia also had goals scored by Brad Campbell and Kyler Keating, who scored one goal each. More assists for Sarnia came via Jordan Fogarty, Bobby King, PJ Vandervaart, and Tyler Prong, who each chipped in one.

Thorold struggled on the penalty kill, allowing the Legionnaires to score five power play goals on nine chances.

Ian Shorthouse made 46 saves for the Blackhawks on 57 shots. Thorold incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
