Brantford falls apart in second, loses to Elmira, 6-1Dan Snyder Memorial Sun, Feb 22, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Elmira Sugar Kings used a three-goal second period to put away the Brantford 99ers, 6-1. Elmira pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 24 penalty minutes. The Sugar Kings were sparked by Zac Coulter, who racked up one goal. Coulter scored 5:58 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Elmira. Alex Mutton assisted on the tally. Elmira stifled Brantford's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The defensemen of the Sugar Kings were also effective in the 99ers' zone, and came away with two goals. Elmira additionally got points from Eric Palazzolo, who also had one goal and one assist and Chad Herron, who also registered one goal and one assist. Adam Brubacher also scored for Elmira. More assists for Elmira came via Brodie Whitehead, Mitch Wright, and Brendan Schneider, who each chipped in one. Elmira's Jonathan Reinhart stopped 23 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Sugar Kings registered one goal on two power play opportunities. Elmira ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Mac Clutsam was ejected from the game. Jack Moylan recorded 24 saves for Brantford. The 99ers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors.
