Stratford blows out Brampton, 8-2

The Stratford Cullitons were firing on all cylinders against the Brampton Bombers, and when the final buzzer sounded Cullitons emerged with an 8-2 win.

Stratford was led by goalie Nicholas Caldwell, who finished with 31 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Caldwell will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.8.

The Cullitons' offense rang up 46 shots on Brampton's net. Stratford's goal total was higher than its season average. The Cullitons average 4.3 goals per game.

Stratford was led by Mitch Brooks, who registered two goals and one assist. Brooks scored the first of his two goals at 4:28 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Stratford. Trevor Sauder assisted on the tally. Brooks' next tally made the score 8-1 Stratford with 11:49 left in the third period. Sauder picked up the assist. Stratford additionally got points from Jake Pleon, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Sauder, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Stratford included Hayden Broomhead, Zach Van Louwe, Evan Metelski (APM), and Tyson Baker, who scored one goal each. In addition, Stratford received assists from Brook Hiddink, who had three and Matthieu Bourbeau, Carter Allen, Jared Nash, Tristan Hohl, Patrick McKelvie, and Justin Graham, who contributed one each.

The Bombers forced the Cullitons goalie Caldwell to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. Brampton could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 48 minutes in penalties during the game.

Stratford incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. The Bombers' Shane Dietl stopped 38 shots out of the 46 that he faced. Brampton registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
