Caledonia wins tough contest against Niagara Falls, 4-2Haldimand Center Sat, Feb 21, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Caledonia Corvairs gutted out a close 4-2 win against the Niagara Falls Canucks. No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Connor Bramwell at 2:21 of the third period. Caledonia got the win on the strength of a great game by Cosimo Fontana, who had one goal and two assists. Fontana scored 17:54 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Caledonia. Mitch Purdie provided the assist. The Corvairs' penalty kill excelled, as Caledonia gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays. The Corvairs stifled Niagara Falls' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Caledonia's offense rang up 55 shots on the Canucks' net. The Corvairs could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game. Caledonia also got points from Purdie, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Caledonia also got a goal from Connor Patton as well. In addition, Caledonia received assists from Riley Vanhorne, Matthew Hore, Anton Trublin, and Austin McEneny, who each chipped in one. Niagara Falls excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. The Canucks were helped by Ryall Ledyard, who finished with one goal. Ledyard scored 13:49 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Caledonia. Kevin Millejours assisted on the tally. Nigel Slade also scored for Niagara Falls. More assists for Niagara Falls came via Frank Pucci and Austin Wright, who contributed one each. Marc Sinclair rejected 23 shots on goal for Caledonia. Joseph Murdaca made 51 saves for Niagara Falls on 55 shots. The Canucks incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
