St. Thomas downs St. Marys, 8-2

Robert Shaw had two points to lead the St. Thomas Stars to an 8-2 victory over the St. Marys Lincolns.

St. Thomas forced St. Marys' goalies to work between the pipes, ripping 40 shots and forcing 32 saves. Taylor Gubesch made 24 stops and Tyler Beattie made eight. The Stars surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, St. Thomas averages 3.4 goals per contest.

St. Thomas also got points from Spencer Hutchinson, who also registered two goals and one assist and Anders Adzija, who also tallied one goal and one assist. St. Thomas also had goals scored by Adam Truax, Jay Dekker, Carter McCormick, and Andrew Chambers, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for St. Thomas were Dane Johnstone, who had three, Blair Mincer, Ryan Valentini, Jesse Anderson, Carson Brookshaw, and Jordan Babb, who each chipped in one, and Carson Moniz and Matt McJannet, who contributed two each.

The Lincolns were led by Brent House, who finished with one goal. House scored 7:52 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Marys. Jack Wieringa picked up the assist. St. Marys also got a goal from Taylor Moir as well. More assists for St. Marys came via Matt McGall, Cole Chilvers, and Matt Trudel, who each chipped in one.

Dan Black rejected 20 shots on goal for the Stars. St. Thomas incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. St. Marys totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. For the Lincolns, Evan Krassey was ejected from the game.
