Niagara Falls erases deficit to stun Pelham, 6-5Pelham Meridian CC Tue, Feb 17, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Pelham Panthers could not hold down the Niagara Falls Canucks, and Canucks erased a two-goal deficit en route to a 6-5 win. Niagara Falls let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Canucks took a 5-4 advantage on a goal by Daniel Gallagher at 12:54 in the second period. Niagara Falls found itself down 4-2 after Pelham's Anthony Sorrentino put the puck home on the power play at 4:25 in the second period. After knotting things up at 5-5 on a goal by Sorrentino at 17:21 in the third, the Canucks got the game-winner from Tanner Allen at 19:03 in the third period. Niagara Falls got the win behind a great game by Ryall Ledyard, who had two goals and two assists. Ledyard scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 4:57 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Pelham. The Canucks had gotten the advantage when the Panthers' Connor Schmalz was sent off for roughing. Austin Wright provided the assist. Ledyard's next tally on the power play made the score 4-4 with 7:34 left in the second period. Zack Lansfield picked up the assist. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 13:02 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Pelham was unable to stop Niagara Falls from sending pucks towards the net, and the Canucks eventually piled up 45 shots on goal. Niagara Falls outdid its season average for goals scored. The Canucks average 3.6 goals per game. Niagara Falls struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 27 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays. Niagara Falls also got points from Lansfield, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Niagara Falls came via Matthew Mannella, Mac Hollowell, and Cesare Caldaroni, who each chipped in one. The Panthers bested their season scoring average. Pelham has scored at the pace of 2.5 goals per game during the current campaign. Pelham additionally got points from Schmalz, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Riley Hollowell also scored for Pelham. Other players who recorded assists for Pelham were Brady Cranwell, who had three and Jake DeMaeyer, Jesse Hewak, Thomas Young, and Christian Lea, who contributed one each. Joseph Murdaca rejected 24 shots on goal for the Canucks. Niagara Falls registered one goal on six power play opportunities. For the Canucks, Lansfield was ejected from the game. Tynan Lauziere made 39 saves for the Panthers on 45 shots. Pelham ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. The Panthers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Hewak was ejected from the game.
