Kitchener uses early goal to top Brampton, 2-0

Jeremy Kuehn gave the Kitchener Dutchmen the lead in the first period, and the Brampton Bombers was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 2-0.

Kuehn provided Kitchener with the game-winning tally when he scored 17:09 into the first period. Austin Gaboury picked up the assist.

Harrison Pharoah spearheaded the defensive effort for the Dutchmen, as he did not allow a puck past him and made 28 saves for the shutout. Pharoah certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.65 entering the contest.

Kitchener was paced by Kuehn, who grabbed one goal.

The Dutchmen put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Brampton to score on any of its four power plays. Kitchener's offense operated below its season average. The Dutchmen average 4.1 goals per game. The Bombers were unable to stop Kitchener from sending pucks towards the net, and the Dutchmen eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

Kitchener also got a goal from Adam Kawalec as well. In addition, Kitchener received assists from Mitchell Smith, Keegan Calder, and Alex Demrovsky, who each chipped in one.

Brampton excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Bombers could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Brampton puts an average of 2.6 pucks into the net per game.

Kitchener incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Jake Lawr recorded 33 saves for the Bombers. Brampton incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
