Cambridge vanquishes Brampton in shootout, 4-3 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Cambridge Winter Hawks defeated the Brampton Bombers in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for six attempts between the teams.

Cambridge overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Winter Hawks was down 3-1 after a goal by Brampton's Lucas Goodman at 13:50 in the second period. Cambridge tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Alex Hulford at 1:15 in the third period.

Mitch Atkins was all over the ice for the Winter Hawks, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Atkins scored 1:06 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cambridge. Hulford provided the assist.

Cambridge's offense rang up 47 shots on the Bombers' net.

Cambridge also got points from Hulford, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Alex Bottigoni, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Cambridge received assists from Phil Caputo, who had one.

Brampton excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

The Bombers were led by Noah Robinson, who registered two goals. Robinson scored the first of his two goals at 3:25 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Jonah Noto (APJ) assisted on the tally. Robinson's next tally made the score 2-1 Brampton with three seconds left in the first period. A roughing penalty on Zack Hedley had put Brampton on the power play. Brad Bollert picked up the assist. More assists for Brampton came via Robert Orlando, Shawn Madden, and Carmine Vietri, who each chipped in one.

Owen Savory rejected 20 shots on goal for the Winter Hawks. Cambridge incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Jake Lawr recorded 43 saves for the Bombers. Brampton incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
