Niagara Falls downs Thorold, 5-2

Ryall Ledyard registered two points to lead the Niagara Falls Canucks to a 5-2 victory over the Thorold Blackhawks.

Niagara Falls put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Thorold to score on any of its three power plays. The Canucks kept the Blackhawks' goalie busy throughout the game, and Josh Astorino made 32 saves on 37 shots.

Niagara Falls additionally got points from Austin Wright, who also racked up two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Niagara Falls included Jeffrey Venzon and Matthew Baldinelli, who each put in one. In addition, Niagara Falls received assists from Colton Anstey, who had two and Daniel Gallagher, Mac Hollowell, Trevor Simonick, and Drew Trendle, who each chipped in one.

Thorold forced Niagara Falls goalie Joseph Murdaca to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. The Blackhawks were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 24 penalty minutes.

Thorold was helped by Mitchell Mendonca, who had one goal. Mendonca scored 9:01 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Thorold. Anthony Postiglione assisted on the tally. Nathan Dosa also scored for Thorold. Other players who recorded assists for Thorold were Kyle Langdon, Dan Abbott, and David Dagostino, who contributed one each.

Murdaca recorded 37 saves for the Canucks. Niagara Falls totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 2-for-7 on the power play. Team's Kevin Millejours, Nigel Slade, and Matthew Thorpe were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
