Strathroy boosted by Gubbels' play in net, beats St. Marys 3-1

Dane Gubbels stood on his head and made 27 saves to lead the Strathroy Rockets to a 3-1 victory over the St. Marys Lincolns.

St. Marys' power play was ineffective against Strathroy's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Rockets were led by Nick Griffin, who grabbed one goal. Griffin scored 3:13 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Strathroy. Dylan Newman picked up the assist.

Strathroy excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Lincolns were unable to stop the Rockets from sending pucks towards the net, and Strathroy eventually piled up 47 shots on goal. The Rockets could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game.

Strathroy also had goals scored by Eddie Schulz and Dan Chapman, who each put in one. More assists for Strathroy came via Andrew Martin, who had two and Sam Vokes, Lucas Latina, and Ocean Check, who contributed one each.

St. Marys was led by Evan Krassey, who scored the team's only goal. Krassey scored 16:54 into the second period to make the score 1-0 St. Marys. Brent House provided the assist.

Strathroy registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Tyler Beattie made 44 saves for the Lincolns on 47 shots. St. Marys incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
