Trottier nets hat trick, leads Sarnia to 6-2 win over St. Marys

A hat trick by Ryan Trottier was the highlight in Legionnaires' 6-2 win against the St. Marys Lincolns.

Trottier got on the scoresheet 7:32 into the second period. He then added goals at 10:23 into the second and at 13:29 into the second.

The game was close after the first frame, but the Sarnia Legionnaires banged in four goals during the second period to put the victory out of reach for St. Marys.

Sarnia's offense rang up 52 shots on the Lincolns' net.

Sarnia additionally got points from Davis Boyer, who also registered one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Sarnia included Ryan Vendramin and Cameron Clarke, who scored one goal each. More assists for Sarnia came via Tyler Prong, who had three, Jay Clarke and Jordan Fogarty, who contributed one each, and Cody Trowell and Kyler Keating, who each chipped in two.

St. Marys excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Lincolns kept the Legionnaires' goalie busy throughout the game, and Cornel Felder made 31 saves on 33 shots.

St. Marys was led by Graham Brulotte, who tallied one goal. Brulotte scored on the power play 5:13 into the second period to make the score 1-1. The Lincolns had taken the advantage when Sarnia's Nathan Mater got sent off for checking from behind. Mitch Read picked up the assist. Jared Lindsay also scored for St. Marys. Other players who recorded assists for St. Marys were Brent House and Colin Nancekivell, who contributed one each.

The Legionnaires incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Sarnia ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Mater was ejected from the game. Andrew Masters made 46 saves for St. Marys on 52 shots. The Lincolns incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
