Stratford wins tough contest against Cambridge, 4-3

The game between the Stratford Cullitons and the Cambridge Winter Hawks was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Stratford emerged with a 4-3 win.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Mitch Brooks secured the win for the Cullitons with a goal in the third period.

Stratford was paced by Brooks, who tallied one goal. Brooks scored 13:50 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Stratford. Trevor Sauder assisted on the tally.

In a losing effort, Cambridge was led by Alex Bottigoni, who registered two goals. Bottigoni scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 13:52 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Winter Hawks earned a power play opportunity when Jake Pleon was put in the box for slashing. Beau Goehrum picked up the assist. Bottigoni's next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 Stratford with one second1 seconds left in the second period. Cambridge had gained a power play chance when Pleon was whistled for cross checking. Phil Caputo assisted on the tally.

The Winter Hawks were unable to stop the Cullitons from sending pucks towards the net, and Stratford eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

Stratford additionally got points from Hayden Broomhead, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Stratford included Joe Leahy and Shane O Brien, who scored one goal each. In addition, Stratford received assists from Carter Allen, Deven Kropf, and Patrick McKelvie, who each chipped in one.

Alex Hulford also scored for Cambridge. Other players who recorded assists for Cambridge were Rob Grant, Tyler Romain, and Mitch Atkins, who contributed one each.

Nick Redman recorded 23 saves for the Cullitons. Stratford incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For the Cullitons, McKelvie was ejected from the game. Lucas Machalski made 31 saves for Cambridge on 35 shots. The Winter Hawks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
