Behind a great game by Korey Morgan, who had one goal and three assists, the LaSalle Vipers defeated the St. Thomas Stars, 7-3. Morgan beat Dan Black with a shot 19:05 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Nick Gauvin provided the assist. Morgan dished an assist on Brett Primeau's goal that made the score 2-1 LaSalle at 3:45 into the second period. He then added assists on Manny Silverio's goal at 8:10 into the third and on Dalton Langlois's goal at 11:11 into the third.St. Thomas' power play was ineffective against LaSalle's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. The Vipers forced Stars' goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, launching 33 shots and forcing 26 saves. Black made zero stops and Brendan Polasek made 26. LaSalle put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Stars to score on any of their six power plays. The Vipers surpassed their usual scoring output this season. LaSalle has scored at the pace of 4.3 goals per game during the current campaign. LaSalle also got points from Primeau, who also registered one goal and one assist. Nathan Savage also scored for LaSalle. More assists for LaSalle came via Daniel Beaudoin, who had two, Chris Pignanelli, who had three, and Paolo Battisti, Eric Kirby, and Nathan Veres, who contributed one each. St. Thomas kept the Vipers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Battisti made 29 saves on 32 shots. The Stars were helped by Adam Truax, who tallied one goal. Truax scored 18:06 into the second period to make the score 4-2 LaSalle. St. Thomas also got a goal from Spencer Hutchinson as well. In addition, St. Thomas received assists from Carson Moniz and Brett Van Dusen, who each chipped in one. LaSalle incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. St. Thomas incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
