The Brantford 99ers survived a determined comeback attempt by the Brampton Bombers on the way to a 4-3 win. Brantford made the score 4-2 on a goal by Christian Polillo at 6:58 in the third period, and Brampton got as close as 4-3 when Lucas Goodman scored 19:57 into the third period. The Bombers' power play was ineffective against the 99ers' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. Brantford forced Brampton's netminders to work between the pipes, finishing with 36 shots and forcing 32 saves. Jake Lawr made 20 stops and Shane Dietl made 12. The 99ers' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Brantford finished with 28 penalty minutes. Brantford additionally got points from Guy Polillo, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Cole Cummings, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Matthew Woods, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Brantford came via David Storey, who had two and Evan Bidenti and Ryon Pereira, who each chipped in one. The Bombers' offense rang up 44 shots on the 99ers' net. Brampton was helped by Carmine Vietri, who tallied one goal. Vietri scored on the power play 3:07 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Brantford. A high sticking penalty on Nathan Ferris had put the Bombers on the power play. Noah Robinson assisted on the tally. Brampton also got a goal from Sam Hisey as well. In addition, Brampton received assists from Shawn Madden, Chris Hill, Austin Kozluk, Brad Bollert, and Mitchell Byrne, who contributed one each. Brantford's Nathan (APJ) Mackinnon stopped 41 shots out of the 44 that he faced. The 99ers registered one goal on one power play opportunities. Brampton incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors.
