Leamington blows out Lambton Shores, 9-2

The Leamington Flyers were firing on all cylinders against the Lambton Shores Predators, and when the final buzzer sounded Flyers emerged with a 9-2 win.

Chris Scott was all over the ice for Leamington, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Scott scored 4:58 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Leamington. Cale Allen provided the assist.

The Flyers' penalty kill excelled, as Leamington gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 8:31 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Flyers forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up nine minors and three majors for 83 minutes in penalty time. Leamington surpassed its season average of 24.0 penalty minutes per game. The Flyers forced Predators' netminders to work all game long, getting 43 shots and forcing 34 saves. Andrew Harriman-Duke made 22 stops and Anthony Hurtubise made 12. Leamington surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Flyers have scored at the pace of 4.2 goals per game during the current campaign.

Leamington also got points from Tyler Duarte, who also had one goal and one assist, Alex Friesen, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Kyle Quick, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Eric Henderson also scored for Leamington. Other players who recorded assists for Leamington were Mitchell Amante, who had three and J.P. Grineau, Ryan Muzzin, Blaine Bechard, and Cale Phibbs, who contributed one each.

Lambton Shores' penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and three majors for 69 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 24.0 minutes per game the Predators had been spending in the box.

Lambton Shores was helped by Brett Corrigan, who registered one goal. Corrigan scored 41 seconds into the second period to make the score 3-1 Leamington. Franco Sproviero assisted on the tally. Lambton Shores also got a goal from Sean Ross as well. In addition, Lambton Shores received assists from Ethan Sarfati and Gino Mini, who each chipped in one.

Leamington's starting goalie, Michael Barrett, made 21 saves and finished with the win before he was taken out in favor of Trevor Wheaton, who stopped zero shots. The Flyers registered one goal on four power play opportunities. For Leamington, Zack Guilbeault, Travis Campbell, and Wheaton were ejected from the contest. Team's Sproviero, Adam Wammes, and Harriman-Duke were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
