London holds on for 3-2 win against Strathroy

The London Nationals survived a determined comeback attempt by the Strathroy Rockets on the way to a 3-2 win.

A goal by Justin Murray put London up 3-1 in the second period, but Strathroy pulled to within one on Dan Chapman's tally 11:45 into the third period.

Austin Kemp had two goals to lead the Nationals to victory. Kemp found the back of the net 22 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 London and again while 7:49 into the first to make the score 2-0 London.

London excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Nationals forced the Rockets goalie Mat Ouellet to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots.

More assists for London came via Scott Goodman, who had two and Callum Ruddock, Kevin Madden, Trevor Dulong, and Tanner Lafrance, who each chipped in one.

Strathroy's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six London power plays. London was unable to stop the Rockets from sending pucks towards the net, and Strathroy eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. The Rockets could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

Stuart King also scored for Strathroy. Other players who recorded assists for Strathroy were Kurtis Sander, Nick Boyer, Mark MacAulay, and Ocean Check, who contributed one each.

Connor Hughes made 35 saves for the Nationals on 37 shots. London incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Strathroy's Ouellet stopped 41 shots out of the 44 that he faced. For the Rockets, Andrew Martin was ejected from the game.
