Chatham survives penalties, beats LaSalle, 5-2

The LaSalle Vipers failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Chatham Maroons shook off a number of penalties to win, 5-2.

Chatham was led by Alexander Morgan, who grabbed one goal. Morgan scored on the power play 9:49 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Chatham. The Maroons had gotten the advantage when LaSalle's Daniel Beaudoin was sent off for hooking. Gus Ford assisted on the tally.

Chatham stifled the Vipers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Maroons forced LaSalle goalie Eli Billing to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots.

Chatham also got points from Trevor Richardson, who also registered one goal and one assist and Ford, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Chatham also got a goal from Jared Dennis as well. Other players who recorded assists for Chatham were Steven Szekesy, Luc Knight, and Michael Levesque, who each chipped in one and Steven Beenackers and Brennan Feasey, who contributed two each.

The Vipers were held below their usual level of production. LaSalle averages 4.2 goals per game. The Vipers' offense rang up 37 shots on Chatham's net.

Chris Pignanelli also scored for LaSalle. More assists for LaSalle came via Nathan Savage, Nathan Veres, and Brendan Harrogate, who each chipped in one.

Bo Bessette recorded 35 saves for the Maroons. Chatham incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. LaSalle's Billing stopped 36 shots out of the 41 that he faced. The Vipers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
