Leamington blows out Lambton Shores, 6-3

The Leamington Flyers had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-3 win over the Lambton Shores Predators.

Leamington was sparked by Joe Ogden, who registered one goal. Ogden scored 15:04 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Leamington.

The Flyers were often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and one major for 39 minutes in penalty time. Leamington surpassed its season average of 23.0 penalty minutes per game. Lambton Shores was unable to stop the Flyers from sending pucks towards the net, and Leamington eventually piled up 44 shots on goal.

Leamington additionally got points from Mitchell Amante, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Leamington also had goals scored by Cale Phibbs, Eric Henderson, Matthew Opblinger, and Alex Friesen, who scored one goal each. More assists for Leamington came via Ryan Muzzin, who had two and Blaine Bechard, Chris Scott, and Zak Parlette, who each chipped in one.

The Predators racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with nine minors and one major for 43 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 23.0 minutes per game Lambton Shores had been spending in the box. The Predators kept the Flyers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Trevor Wheaton made 38 saves on 41 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Lambton Shores was helped by Ryan Fraser, who racked up one goal. Fraser scored on the power play 10:17 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Lambton Shores. A tripping penalty on Scott had put the Predators on the power play. Brett Corrigan assisted on the tally. Lambton Shores also got points from Brent Hammett, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Lambton Shores also got a goal from Nick Sproviero as well. In addition, Lambton Shores received assists from Adam Wammes, Drew Marlatt, and Colin Burns, who contributed one each.

Leamington registered two goals on six power play opportunities. The Flyers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Friesen was ejected from the game. Anthony Hurtubise rejected 38 shots on goal for Lambton Shores. The Predators registered one goal on four power play opportunities. For Lambton Shores, Austin Fetterly was ejected from the game.
