Martini's goals lift Guelph to 6-3 victory over Brantford

Craig Martini had two goals to lead the Guelph Hurricanes to a 6-3 victory over the Brantford 99ers.

Martini found the back of the net 3:20 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while on the power play 8:42 into the first to make the score 2-1 Guelph.

Guelph put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Brantford to score on any of its four power plays. The 99ers were unable to stop the Hurricanes from sending pucks towards the net, and Guelph eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. The Hurricanes bested their season scoring average. Guelph averages 3.7 goals per game.

Guelph also got points from Patrick Kudla, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Brooker Muir, who also had one goal and one assist, and Peyton Backus, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Guelph also got a goal from Matt Nightingale as well. Other players who recorded assists for Guelph were Tristan Liggett, Lawrence Pagnan, Ryan Migliaccio, Giordano Finoro, and Brody Milne, who contributed one each and Beau Browning and Dylan Sayle, who each chipped in two.

Brantford was helped by Scotty Penwarden, who registered one goal. Penwarden scored 6:56 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Guelph. Dave Dinardi provided the assist. Brantford additionally got points from Dinardi, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Guy Polillo also scored for Brantford. More assists for Brantford came via Nolan Ferris, Christian Polillo, Nathan Ferris, Cole Cummings, and Austin (APJ) Sloot, who contributed one each.

The Hurricanes' Jason DaSilva stopped 18 shots out of the 21 that he faced. Guelph incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Nathan (APJ) Mackinnon rejected 29 shots on goal for the 99ers. Brantford incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
