Elmira beats Cambridge 3-0 as Reinhart gains shutout

Jonathan Reinhart recorded a shutout against the Cambridge Winter Hawks as the Elmira Sugar Kings picked up a 3-0 win.

Elmira was led by Steven Jakiela, who had one goal. Jakiela scored 14:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Elmira. Brendan Schneider picked up the assist.

The Sugar Kings stifled Cambridge's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Elmira's defensive play was more effective than usual against the Winter Hawks. The Sugar Kings average 2.6 goals allowed per game. Elmira kept Cambridge's goalie busy throughout the game, and Lucas Machalski made 30 saves on 33 shots.

Elmira also had goals scored by Brodie Whitehead and Mitch Wright, who scored one goal each. In addition, Elmira received assists from Marselis Subban, Adam Brubacher, and Mitch Klie, who contributed one each.

The Winter Hawks were held below their usual level of production. Cambridge puts an average of 3.0 pucks into the net per game. The Winter Hawks forced the Sugar Kings goalie Reinhart to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots.

Reinhart rejected 43 shots on goal for Elmira. The Sugar Kings incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Cambridge incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
