Ancaster outlasts Pelham, 6-4

The game between the Ancaster Avalanche and the Pelham Panthers was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Ancaster emerged with a 6-4 win.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Blake Luscombe's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

The Avalanche got the win behind a great game by Luscombe, who had two goals and one assist. Luscombe scored the first of his two goals at 15:34 into the third period to make the score 5-4 Ancaster. Adam Burnett picked up the assist. Luscombe's next tally made the score 6-4 Ancaster with 3:08 left in the third period. Jesse Hilton provided the assist.

Pelham was unable to stop Ancaster from sending pucks towards the net, and the Avalanche eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. Ancaster's goal total was higher than its season average. The Avalanche average 3.3 goals per game.

Others who scored for Ancaster included Max Balinson, Lucas Pozzobon, Owen Burnell, and Ben Hughes, who each put in one. More assists for Ancaster came via Luke Zupan, who had two and Michael Pollice, Ryan Knill, and Ryan Cox, who contributed one each.

The Panthers were helped by Anthony Sorrentino, who registered two goals and one assist. Sorrentino scored the first of his two goals at 14:47 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Pelham. Brady Cranwell picked up the assist. Sorrentino's next tally made the score 4-4 with 7:05 left in the third period. Pelham had gained a power play chance when Burnett was whistled for hooking. Riley O Connell assisted on the tally. Pelham also got points from Cranwell, who also finished with one goal and two assists and O Connell, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, Pelham received assists from Jesse Hewak, Shawn Rooke, Kyle Degiuli, and Trevor Meecham, who each chipped in one.

Matt Calas recorded 20 saves for Ancaster. The Avalanche incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Daniel Kocsis made 33 saves for the Panthers on 39 shots. Pelham incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
