Waterloo falls to Cambridge in overtime, 3-2 (OT)Galt Arena Gardens Thu, Jan 29, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Cambridge Winter Hawks pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over the Waterloo Siskins on a clutch goal by Alex Bottigoni. Cambridge overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Winter Hawks was down 2-0 after a power play goal by Waterloo's Eric Cimino at 8:02 in the second period. Cambridge tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Maxime Lamontagne at 17:10 in the third period. The Winter Hawks were led by Bottigoni, who had one goal and one assist. Bottigoni scored 2:05 into overtime to make the score 3-2 Cambridge. Lamontagne provided the assist. Cambridge kept the Siskins' goalie busy throughout the game, and Evgeny Kiselev made 29 saves on 32 shots. Cambridge additionally got points from Lamontagne, who also registered one goal and one assist. Cambridge also got a goal from Matt Harding as well. In addition, Cambridge received assists from Jordan Chard, Kyle Liu, Rob Grant, and Mitch Atkins, who contributed one each. Waterloo's offense operated below its season average. Other players who recorded assists for Waterloo were Christian Mroczkowski and Tommy Rietema, who each chipped in one. Cambridge's Machalski stopped 46 shots out of the 48 that he faced. The Winter Hawks incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Waterloo incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
