Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the St. Thomas Stars defeated the London Nationals in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO). The shootout featured six attempts between both teams.London was unable to stop St. Thomas from sending pucks towards the net, and the Stars eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. St. Thomas was helped by Adam Truax, who finished with one goal. Truax scored 16:13 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Jordan Babb picked up the assist. St. Thomas also got a goal from Spencer Hutchinson as well. More assists for St. Thomas came via Carson Moniz, James Newland, and Brett Van Dusen, who each chipped in one. The Nationals put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Stars to score on any of their seven power plays. London was helped by Colin Wilson, who had one goal. Wilson scored 13:15 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Matt Bean assisted on the tally. Austin Kemp also scored for London. Other players who recorded assists for London were Callum Ruddock, Justin Murray, and Kevin Madden, who contributed one each. Brendan Polasek made 28 saves for St. Thomas on 30 shots. The Stars incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Nationals' Justin Tugwell stopped 33 shots out of the 35 that he faced. London incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
