Lambton Shores completes comeback, beats St. Thomas, 4-3The Shores Recreation Centre Sun, Jan 25, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The St. Thomas Stars could not hold down the Lambton Shores Predators, and Predators erased a two-goal deficit en route to a 4-3 win. Lambton Shores let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Predators took a 1-0 advantage on a power play goal by Franco Sproviero at 4:32 in the first period. Lambton Shores found itself down 3-1 after St. Thomas' Ryan Valentini put the puck home at 5:25 in the second period. After knotting things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Sean Ross at 13:37 in the third, the Predators got the game-winner from Brenden Trottier at 17:00 in the third period. In a losing effort, the Stars were led by Valentini, who had two goals and one assist. Valentini scored the first of his two goals at 18:43 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Spencer Hutchinson picked up the assist. Valentini's next tally made the score 3-1 St. Thomas with 14:35 left in the second period. Hutchinson provided the assist. Lambton Shores forced St. Thomas goalie Dan Black to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. Lambton Shores also got points from Sproviero, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Ethan Sarfati, who also tallied one goal and one assist. In addition, Lambton Shores received assists from Ryan Fraser, who had three and Nick Sproviero and Andrew Kim, who contributed one each. The Stars kept the Predators' goalie busy throughout the game, and Andrew Harriman-Duke made 43 saves on 46 shots. St. Thomas also got a goal from Adam Truax as well. Other players who recorded assists for St. Thomas were James Newland and Matt Simsons, who each chipped in one. Lambton Shores incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Black recorded 30 saves for St. Thomas. The Stars totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. St. Thomas ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Carson Brookshaw was ejected from the game.
