Brayden Stortz gave the Welland Jr. Canadians a 4-3 (OT) victory over the Thorold Blackhawks when he scored 4:22 into the extra period.

Welland overcame a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Jr. Canadians fell behind 3-0 after a short handed goal by Thorold's Kyle Langdon at 12:20 in the third period. Welland tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Max Cipriano at 18:53 in the third period.

Stortz was all over the ice for the Jr. Canadians, as he finished with two goals in the win.

Welland excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Jr. Canadians forced the Blackhawks goalie Josh Astorino to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Welland also got a goal from Jack Fitzgerald as well. More assists for Welland came via Kris Melna, who had three and Cristian DiFonzo, Cole McKnight, Josh Allan, JC Thivierge, and Jake Shaw, who each chipped in one.

Thorold was helped by Mitchell Mendonca, who racked up two goals. Mendonca scored the first of his two goals at 4:59 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Thorold. Anthony Postiglione assisted on the tally. Mendonca's next tally made the score 2-0 Thorold with 18:01 left in the second period. Justin Whitwell picked up the assist. In addition, Thorold received assists from Scott Dorion, who had one.

Chris Janzen rejected 21 shots on goal for Welland. The Jr. Canadians incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Astorino recorded 31 saves for the Blackhawks. Thorold incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
