Stratford holds on for 3-2 win against Guelph

The Guelph Hurricanes tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Stratford Cullitons held on for a 3-2 victory.

Stratford made the score 3-0 on a goal by Trevor Sauder at 36 seconds in the third period, and Guelph got as close as 3-2 when Stefano Pezzetta scored 17:30 into the third period.

The Cullitons' penalty kill excelled, as Stratford gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

The Hurricanes were unable to stop the Cullitons from sending pucks towards the net, and Stratford eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

The Cullitons were helped by Justin Graham, who registered one goal. Graham scored 3:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Stratford. Deven Kropf picked up the assist. Zach Van Louwe also scored for Stratford. Other players who recorded assists for Stratford were Austin Huizenga, Jared Nash, Shane O Brien, and Hayden Broomhead, who each chipped in one.

Guelph was helped by Brody Milne, who had one goal. Milne scored on the power play 8:35 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Stratford. A unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Carter Allen had put the Hurricanes on the power play. Pezzetta assisted on the tally. Guelph additionally got points from Pezzetta, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Guelph received assists from Lawrence Pagnan, Brooker Muir, and Ryan Migliaccio, who contributed one each.

Nick Redman recorded 27 saves for Stratford. The Cullitons incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Jeremie Lintner made 31 saves for Guelph on 34 shots. The Hurricanes incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
