Listowel erases deficit to stun Guelph, 7-6GOJHL Head Office Fri, Jan 23, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Guelph Hurricanes could not hold down the Listowel Cyclones, and Cyclones erased a two-goal deficit en route to a 7-6 win. Listowel let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Cyclones took a 1-0 advantage on a goal by Garrett James at 3:31 in the first period. Listowel went down 5-3 after Guelph's Beau Browning put the puck home at 5:14 in the second period. After tying things up at 6-6 on a power play goal by Brady Anderson at 11:52 in the third, the Cyclones got the game-winner from Chayse Herrfort at 13:18 in the third period. Listowel got the win with help from a great game by Herrfort, who had two goals and one assist. Herrfort scored the first of his two goals at 9:05 into the second period to make the score 5-4 Guelph. Brad Yowart provided the assist. Herrfort's next tally made the score 7-6 Listowel with 6:42 left in the third period. Riley Robertson picked up the assist. The Hurricanes were unable to stop the Cyclones from sending pucks towards the net, and Listowel eventually piled up 41 shots on goal. The Cyclones' goal total was higher than their season average. Listowel averages 2.8 goals per game. Listowel also got points from Anderson, who also finished with two goals and one assist. Others who scored for Listowel included Ray McFalls and Ben VanOotegham, who each put in one. More assists for Listowel came via Corey Flemington, who had two and Robert White, Derek Elliot, Jordan Caskenette, Jamie Huber, and Ben Shelley, who contributed one each. Guelph forced the Cyclones goalie Ryan Hergott to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. The Hurricanes outdid their season average for goals scored. Guelph has scored at the pace of 3.6 goals per game during the current campaign. The Hurricanes were helped by Matt Nightingale, who racked up two goals. Nightingale scored the first of his two goals at 9:32 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Cameron Stokes provided the assist. Nightingale's next tally made the score 6-5 Guelph with 16:54 left in the third period. Jordan Hatzinger assisted on the tally.
