St. Catharines uses shootout to best Fort Erie, 3-2 (3-2 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the St. Catharines Falcons defeated the Fort Erie Meteors in a shootout 3-2 (3-2 SO).

The shootout featured 10 attempts between both teams. Fort Erie got shootout goals from Anthony Passero and Dakota Miskolczi. St. Catharines also got shootout goals from Tyler Morrison and Manny Manns.

The Falcons came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. St. Catharines was down 2-1 after a goal by the Meteors' Holden Garlent at 4:42 in the second period. The Falcons knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Morrison at 5:49 in the third period.

St. Catharines managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Falcons finished below its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. St. Catharines' offense rang up 34 shots on Fort Erie's net.

The Falcons were helped by Ryan Doucette, who registered one goal. Doucette scored 16:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Catharines. Tyler Jackson picked up the assist. Other players who recorded assists for St. Catharines were Brock Ackerman, Jake Evans, and Nicholas Dozzi, who contributed one each.

The Meteors managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Fort Erie ended up below its season average of 26.0 penalty minutes per game.

Dalton Tartaglia also scored for Fort Erie. More assists for Fort Erie came via Riley Mocha, Tristan Drescher, Alex Hurran, and Richard DeMarco, who each chipped in one.

Ben Csiernik made 19 saves for St. Catharines on 21 shots. The Falcons registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. The Meteors' Mackenzie Savard stopped 31 shots out of the 33 that he faced. Fort Erie registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
