Thorold outlasts Pelham, 6-4Thorold Community Arena Wed, Jan 21, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Thorold Blackhawks gutted out a close 6-4 win against the Pelham Panthers. Thorold gained the winning advantage on a goal by Quinn Geddes 18:36 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer. The Blackhawks was paced on offense by Nick Prestia and Geddes, who combined for five points. Prestia registered two goals and one assist and Geddes also notched one goal and one assist. Pelham was unable to stop Thorold from sending pucks towards the net, and the Blackhawks eventually piled up 43 shots on goal. Thorold surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Blackhawks average 2.6 goals per game. Thorold additionally got points from Geddes, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Thorold also had goals scored by Jake Lloyd, Dan Abbott, and Nick Sacco, who each put in one. In addition, Thorold received assists from Greg Christmas, who had two, Anthony Postiglione, who had three, and Mitchell Mendonca, Dawson Ethier, and Francesco Gigliotti, who each chipped in one. The Panthers were helped by Brady Cranwell, who finished with two goals. Cranwell scored the first of his two goals at 3:49 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Pelham. Thomas Young picked up the assist. Cranwell's next tally made the score 4-4 with 8:54 left in the third period. A hooking penalty on Gigliotti had put Pelham on the power play. Dane Koabel provided the assist. Pelham also got points from Young, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Anthony Sorrentino, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. More assists for Pelham came via Connor Schmalz, Cody LeVasseur, and Riley O Connell, who contributed one each. Josh Astorino recorded 21 saves for Thorold. The Blackhawks incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Panthers' Tynan Lauziere stopped 37 shots out of the 42 that he faced. Pelham incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. For the Panthers, Jesse Hewak was ejected from the game.
