Lambton Shores pulls away in second, rolls over St. Marys, 7-0

The St. Marys Lincolns allowed the Lambton Shores Predators to net three goals during the second period and fell, 7-0.

Anthony Hurtubise spearheaded the defensive effort for Lambton Shores, as he did not allow a puck past him and made 30 saves for the shutout. Hurtubise certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 5.26 entering the contest.

Brenden Trottier had two goals and one assist to lead the Predators. Trottier scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 6:04 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Lambton Shores. Lambton Shores had gotten the advantage when St. Marys' Matt Trudel was sent off for roughing. Franco Sproviero assisted on the tally. Trottier's next tally on the power play made the score 3-0 Lambton Shores with 11:31 left in the second period. Andrew Kim picked up the assist.

The Predators excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Lambton Shores kept the Lincolns' goalie busy throughout the game, and Tyler Beattie made 37 saves on 44 shots. The Predators' goal total was higher than their season average. Lambton Shores averages 3.2 goals per game. The defensemen of the Predators were also effective in St. Marys' zone, and came away with two goals.

Lambton Shores additionally got points from Nick Sproviero, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Sproviero, who also registered one goal and two assists, and Ethan Sarfati, who also had one goal and one assist. Lambton Shores also had goals scored by Trevor Waller and Brent Hammett, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Lambton Shores were Ryan Fraser, who had three and Drew Marlatt, Brett Corrigan, and Sean Ross, who each chipped in one.

Lambton Shores totaled 35 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. The Predators ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nick Delyzer was ejected from the game. The Lincolns ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. For St. Marys, Trudel was ejected from the game.
