Guelph erases deficit to stun Brampton, 7-5Sleeman Centre Sat, Jan 17, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Undaunted by a three-goal deficit, the Guelph Hurricanes battled back to claim a 7-5 victory over the Brampton Bombers. Guelph let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a three hole to pick up the win. The Hurricanes took a 5-4 advantage on a goal by Craig Martini at 25 seconds in the third period. Guelph went down 4-1 after Brampton's Kevin Bray put the puck home at 8:27 in the second period. After evening things up at 5-5 on a goal by Jonah Noto at 9:38 in the third, the Hurricanes got the game-winner from Beau Browning at 16:31 in the third period. Guelph kept the Bombers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Shane Dietl made 36 saves on 43 shots. The Hurricanes bested their season scoring average. Guelph has scored at the pace of 3.6 goals per game during the current campaign. The Hurricanes' penalty kill unit could not stop Brampton's power play, which converted on two of three opportunities. Guelph also got points from Jordan Hatzinger, who also registered one goal and one assist. Dylan Sayle also scored for Guelph. More assists for Guelph came via Mackenzie Flewelling, who had three, Jake Wyse, Alex Remedios, Lawrence Pagnan, and Brooker Muir, who each chipped in one, and Sebastian Stangherlin, Cameron Stokes, and Peyton Backus, who contributed two each. The Bombers stifled Guelph's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Brampton found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Bombers average 2.7 goals per game. Brampton was led by Noah Robinson, who grabbed one goal and three assists. Robinson scored on the power play 8:12 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Brampton. A tripping penalty on Brody Milne had put the Bombers on the power play. Bray picked up the assist. Brampton additionally got points from Lucas Goodman, who also had one goal and one assist and Bray, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Brampton also got a goal from Carmine Vietri as well. In addition, Brampton received assists from Robert Orlando, Sam Hisey, and Christian Sgroi, who each chipped in one. The Hurricanes took out Jason DaSilva after he had made 10 saves and installed Jeremie Lintner in goal, where he finished with 13 saves and the win. Guelph incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Brampton incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the Bombers, Nick Petropoulos was ejected from the game.
