GAME RECAP

Caledonia clinches tight 1-0 victory against Fort Erie

Fort Erie Leisureplex    Sat, Jan 17, 2015

The game between the Caledonia Corvairs and the Fort Erie Meteors proved to be an even match, as Caledonia took home the victory by scoring only once in a 1-0 win.

Luke Sinclair's tally was assisted by Cosimo Fontana and Riley Vanhorne.

Fort Erie's power play was ineffective against the Corvairs' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Caledonia was led by Sinclair, who registered one goal. Sinclair scored 3:41 into the third period to make the score 1-0 Caledonia. Fontana picked up the assist.

The Corvairs put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Meteors to score on any of their six power plays. Caledonia was held below its usual level of production. The Corvairs put an average of 4.4 pucks into the net per game.

Fort Erie's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Caledonia power plays. The Meteors did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Fort Erie averages 2.4 goals per game.

Caledonia's Marc Sinclair stopped 16 shots out of the 16 that he faced. The Corvairs ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major. For Caledonia, Nathan Gomes was ejected from the game. Liam Conway rejected 23 shots on goal for the Meteors. Fort Erie ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. The Meteors ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Josh Micallef was ejected from the game.
