London shrugs off penalties, upends St. Marys, 7-1

The St. Marys Lincolns failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the London Nationals shook off a number of penalties to win, 7-1.

London was led by Ethan Cocurullo, who tallied one goal and one assist. Cocurullo scored 3:59 into the second period to make the score 2-1 London. Tanner Ferreira picked up the assist.

The Nationals' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six St. Marys power plays. St. Marys was unable to stop London from sending pucks towards the net, and the Nationals eventually piled up 49 shots on goal. London's goal total was higher than its season average. This season, the Nationals average 3.4 goals per contest.

London also got points from Derek Todosichuk, who also had two goals and one assist, Colin Wilson, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Drew Worrad, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. London also had goals scored by Scott Goodman and Rai Di Loreto, who each put in one. In addition, London received assists from Kyle L Robinson, who had two and Matt Macpherson, Anthony Kotsovos, Kevin Madden, and Austin Kemp, who contributed one each.

The Lincolns were led by Brent House, who scored the team's only goal. House scored 14:47 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Marys. Sean O`Brien provided the assist.

Connor Hughes recorded 22 saves for London. The Nationals totaled 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors and two majors and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Team's Macpherson and Michael Woolley were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. St. Marys' Tyler Beattie stopped 42 shots out of the 47 that he faced. The Lincolns ended with 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors and two majors. For St. Marys, Matt McGall and Nathan Smith were ejected from the contest.
