Guelph hangs on, beats Brampton 4-2Victoria Park Arena Fri, Jan 16, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Craig Martini scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Guelph Hurricanes held off the challenges of the Brampton Bombers in a tough 4-2 win. Guelph took over the lead for good with a goal by Martini at 11:15 in the first period. Michael Courvoisier picked up the assist.The Hurricanes were sparked by Giordano Finoro, who had one goal. Finoro scored 17:11 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Guelph. Jake Wyse assisted on the tally. Brampton was unable to stop Guelph from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hurricanes eventually piled up 41 shots on goal. Guelph additionally got points from Martini, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Guelph also had goals scored by Patrick Kudla and Peyton Backus, who scored one goal each. In addition, Guelph received assists from Jeremie Lintner, Alex Remedios, Brooker Muir, and Jordan Hatzinger, who contributed one each. The Bombers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Brampton's offense rang up 35 shots on Guelph's net. The Bombers were helped by Cameron DeFazio, who finished with one goal. DeFazio scored 11:38 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Guelph. Austin Kozluk picked up the assist. Brampton also got a goal from Cameron Cruickshank as well. More assists for Brampton came via Lucas Goodman, Shawn Madden, and Kevin Bray, who each chipped in one. The Hurricanes' Lintner stopped 33 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Guelph incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Shane Dietl made 37 saves for Brampton on 40 shots. The Bombers incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
