Conway, Fort Erie blank Thorold, 2-0

The Fort Erie Meteors used a sparkling performance by Liam Conway to take down the Thorold Blackhawks, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Fort Erie's 2-0 shutout victory.

The Meteors were led by Jared Marino, who registered one goal and one assist. Marino scored on the power play 6:00 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Fort Erie. Fort Erie had taken the advantage when Thorold's Anthony Postiglione got sent off for interference. Anthony Passero picked up the assist.

The Meteors put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Blackhawks to score on any of their four power plays. Fort Erie forced Thorold goalie Josh Astorino to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

Fort Erie additionally got points from Passero, who also tallied one goal and one assist. In addition, Fort Erie received assists from Holden Garlent, who had two.

The Blackhawks' penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. Thorold surpassed its season average of 24.0 penalty minutes per game. The Blackhawks could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Thorold puts an average of 2.3 pucks into the net per game. The Blackhawks' offense rang up 36 shots on the Meteors' net.

Justin Whitwell also scored for Thorold.

Conway rejected 36 shots on goal for Fort Erie. The Meteors incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Astorino recorded 36 saves for Thorold. Team's Tyler Sehovic and Francesco Gigliotti were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
