Lambton Shores falls to Strathroy after surprising comeback

The Strathroy Rockets climbed out of a three-goal hole to beat the Lambton Shores Predators, 5-4.

Strathroy never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Rockets was down 4-1 after a power play goal by Lambton Shores' Ryan Fraser at 6:46 in the second period. Strathroy knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Sam Vokes at 8:30 in the third period. The Rockets got the game winner at 16:47 in the third period on a goal by Vokes.

Brett Dalton had a great game for Strathroy, netting two goals. Dalton's tallies came at 5:34 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Lambton Shores and on the power play 7:22 into the second to make the score 4-2 Lambton Shores.

The Rockets' offense rang up 35 shots on the Predators' net. Strathroy capitalized on Lambton Shores' penalties, netting two goals while skating with a man advantage.

Strathroy additionally got points from Andrew Martin, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Vokes, who also had one goal and one assist, and Mark MacAulay, who also finished with one goal and one assist. More assists for Strathroy came via Marcus Baird, who had two and Joey Seney, Matt Laberge, Stuart King, Nick Boyer, and Dan Chapman, who contributed one each.

The Predators kept the Rockets' goalie busy throughout the game, and Mat Ouellet made 30 saves on 34 shots.

Lambton Shores was helped by Ethan Sarfati, who grabbed one goal and two assists. Sarfati scored 1:44 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lambton Shores. Brenden Trottier picked up the assist. Lambton Shores also got points from Fraser, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Lambton Shores included Adam Wammes and Nick Delyzer, who scored one goal each. In addition, Lambton Shores received assists from Calvin Hughson and Franco Sproviero, who each chipped in one.

Strathroy incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Anthony Hurtubise recorded 30 saves for the Predators. Lambton Shores incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
