Caledonia hangs on, beats St. Catharines 3-1

Connor Patton scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Caledonia Corvairs held off the challenges of the St. Catharines Falcons in a tough 3-1 win.

Caledonia took over the lead for good with a goal by Patton at 1:26 in the first period. Todd Ratchford provided the assist.

St. Catharines' power play was ineffective against the Corvairs' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Caledonia was led by Erick Delaurentis, who finished with one goal. Delaurentis scored 4:30 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Caledonia. Tyler Lepore picked up the assist.

The Corvairs' offense rang up 40 shots on the Falcons' net.

Caledonia also got a goal from Kyle Tanev as well. More assists for Caledonia came via Jordan Peacock, Connor Bramwell, Mitch Purdie, and Matthew Hore, who contributed one each.

St. Catharines was held below its usual level of production. The Falcons average 4.2 goals per game.

St. Catharines was led by Nicholas Dozzi, who scored the team's only goal. Dozzi scored on the power play 15:03 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Caledonia. The Falcons earned a power play opportunity when Jayme Forslund was put in the box for cross checking. Brock Ackerman provided the assist.

Kevin Entmaa recorded 24 saves for Caledonia. The Corvairs incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. St. Catharines' Ben Csiernik stopped 37 shots out of the 40 that he faced. The Falcons incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
