Hopkins leads Chatham over St. Marys, 8-3

Behind a great game by Brayden Hopkins, who had two goals and one assist, the Chatham Maroons defeated the St. Marys Lincolns, 8-3.

Hopkins found the back of the net on the power play 8:26 into the second period to make the score 3-3 and again while 18:30 into the second to make the score 5-3 Chatham.

Chatham's penalty kill excelled, as the Maroons gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Chatham kept St. Marys' goalie busy throughout the game, and Tyler Beattie made 41 saves on 49 shots. The Maroons outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Chatham averages 4.5 goals per contest.

Chatham also got points from Trevor Richardson, who also racked up two goals and one assist, Michael Verboom, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Steven Beenackers, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Chatham included Alexander Morgan and Teddy McGeen, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Chatham were Brett Storr and Mark Fratarcangelli, who each chipped in one, Jared Dennis and Nate Pietens, who contributed two each, and Connor Annett and Brennan Feasey, who each chipped in three.

The Lincolns were helped by Sean O`Brien, who had one goal. O`Brien scored 15:39 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Brent House picked up the assist. St. Marys additionally got points from House, who also racked up one goal and one assist. St. Marys also got a goal from Jack Wieringa as well. In addition, St. Marys received assists from Frasier Lewis, who had one and Graham Brulotte, who had two.

The Maroons took out Bo Bessette after he had made seven saves and installed Jake Patterson in goal, where he finished with eight saves and the win. Chatham incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. St. Marys incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
