Leamington downs Lambton Shores, 2-1

Matthew Opblinger racked up two points to lead the Leamington Flyers to a 2-1 victory over the Lambton Shores Predators.

Leamington was held below its usual level of production. The Flyers average 4.1 goals per game. Leamington's offense rang up 51 shots on Lambton Shores' net. The Flyers got their opportunities on the power play, but did not convert any of their 10 chances.

Leamington also got a goal from Ryan Muzzin as well. Other players who recorded assists for Leamington were Blaine Bechard, Zack Guilbeault, and Kyle Quick, who each chipped in one.

The Predators stifled Leamington's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Lambton Shores could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Predators put an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game.

Lambton Shores was led by Colin Burns, who scored the team's only goal. Burns scored on the power play 17:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lambton Shores. The Predators had gained a power play chance when Opblinger was whistled for high sticking. Sean Ross assisted on the tally.

The Flyers' Trevor Wheaton stopped 17 shots out of the 18 that he faced. Leamington incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Anthony Hurtubise rejected 49 shots on goal for Lambton Shores. The Predators incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
