Huge game by Kawalec boosts Kitchener over Brantford, 8-2

Behind a great game by Adam Kawalec, who had one goal and two assists, the Kitchener Dutchmen defeated the Brantford 99ers, 8-2.

Kawalec beat #$self.jersey with a shot 1:59 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Kitchener. Sean Allen provided the assist. Kawalec dished an assist on Alex Demrovsky's goal that made the score 2-1 Kitchener at 14:26 into the second period. He added another helper on Connor Cole's goal that made the score 7-1 Kitchener at 13:56 into the third period.

Kitchener stifled Brantford's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Dutchmen kept the 99ers' goalie busy throughout the game, and #$self.jersey made 30 saves on 38 shots. Kitchener found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, the Dutchmen average 4.4 goals per contest. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Kitchener additionally got points from Allen, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Demrovsky, who also had two goals and one assist, and Cole, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Kitchener also had goals scored by Austin Gaboury, Matt Scott, and Jacob Cascagnette, who each put in one. More assists for Kitchener came via Jackson McIntosh, Scott Pedersen, Brett Wilson(APJ), Philip Moser, Nic Hague, and Keegan Calder, who contributed one each and Kyle Ellis and Mitchell Smith, who each chipped in two.

Brantford found itself short handed often, totaling 24 penalty minutes and allowing six power plays.

The 99ers were helped by Gus Ford, who racked up one goal. Ford scored 9:16 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Brantford. Guy Polillo picked up the assist. Brantford also got a goal from Cole Cummings as well. Other players who recorded assists for Brantford were Evan Bidenti, Scotty Penwarden, and Zander Pryor, who contributed one each.

McIntosh recorded 18 saves for Kitchener. The Dutchmen incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Brantford registered zero goals on five power play opportunities.
