The St. Thomas Stars' Zach Grzelewski had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing two assists in his team's 4-1 win over the St. Marys Lincolns. Grzelewski scored on the power play 9:34 into the third period to make the score 2-0 St. Thomas. A slashing penalty on Sean O`Brien had put St. Thomas on the power play. Dane Johnstone picked up the assist. Grzelewski dished an assist on Blair Mincer's goal that made the score 1-0 St. Thomas at 6:31 into the second period. He added another helper on Carter McCormick's goal that made the score 3-1 St. Thomas at 16:05 into the third period.The Stars' Dan Black was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 29 saves and let only one puck past him. Black certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.67 entering the contest. St. Thomas forced St. Marys goalie Andrew Masters to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots. The defensemen of the Stars were also effective in the Lincolns' zone, and came away with two goals. St. Thomas additionally got points from Mincer, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Johnstone, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for St. Thomas were Matt McJannet and Carson Brookshaw, who contributed one each. St. Marys was led by Brent House, who scored the team's only goal. House scored on the power play 11:03 into the third period to make the score 2-1 St. Thomas. The Lincolns had gotten the advantage when St. Thomas' Adam Truax was sent off for slashing. Jordan Winter provided the assist. The Stars incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Masters recorded 37 saves for St. Marys. The Lincolns incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
