Listowel outlasts Kitchener, 4-2Kinsmen Arena Sun, Jan 04, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Listowel Cyclones gutted out a close 4-2 win against the Kitchener Dutchmen. Listowel gained the winning advantage on a goal by Ray McFalls 4:07 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer. The Cyclones were led by McFalls, who racked up one goal. Listowel excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Cyclones kept Kitchener's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jackson McIntosh made 32 saves on 36 shots. Listowel also had goals scored by Derek Elliot, Garrett James, and Ben VanOotegham, who each put in one. In addition, Listowel received assists from Tim Nauta, who had two and Corey Flemington, Kevin Gergley, and Brad Yowart, who each chipped in one. The Dutchmen's offense operated below their season average. Kitchener averages 4.2 goals per game. Listowel was unable to stop the Dutchmen from sending pucks towards the net, and Kitchener eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. The Dutchmen were helped by Alex Demrovsky, who had one goal. Demrovsky scored 5:05 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Kitchener. Jeremy Kuehn picked up the assist. Austin Gaboury also scored for Kitchener. More assists for Kitchener came via Philip Moser, Mitchell Smith, and Jacob Cascagnette, who contributed one each. Ryan Hergott made 29 saves for the Cyclones on 31 shots. Listowel incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Kitchener incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
