Elmira rips Brantford, 6-0

The Elmira Sugar Kings were firing on all cylinders against the Brantford 99ers, and when the final buzzer sounded Sugar Kings emerged with a 6-0 win.

Elmira pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 21 penalty minutes.

The Sugar Kings were led by Zac Coulter, who registered one goal and one assist. Coulter scored 7:24 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Elmira. Mac Clutsam picked up the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 6:22 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Elmira's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Brantford power plays. The Sugar Kings' defensive play was more effective than usual against Brantford. Elmira averages 2.6 goals allowed per game. The Sugar Kings kept the 99ers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Mathieu Kingsley made 39 saves on 45 shots.

Elmira also got points from Adam Brubacher, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Mitch Klie, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Eric Palazzolo, who also had one goal and two assists, and Mitch Wright, who also registered one goal and one assist. Elmira also got a goal from Ethan Skinner as well. More assists for Elmira came via Alex Mutton, who had one and Sam Harris, who had two.

Brantford was held below its usual level of production. The 99ers average 3.2 goals per game. Brantford found itself short handed often, totaling 23 penalty minutes and allowing seven power plays.

Jonathan Reinhart recorded 23 saves for Elmira. The Sugar Kings ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Klie was ejected from the game. For the 99ers, Nathan Ferris was ejected from the game.
