Niagara Falls boosted by Murdaca's play in net, beats Fort Erie 4-1

Fort Erie Leisureplex    Sat, Jan 03, 2015

Joseph Murdaca stood on his head and made 28 saves to lead the Niagara Falls Canucks to a 4-1 victory over the Fort Erie Meteors.

Niagara Falls pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 56 penalty minutes.

The Canucks were paced by Kevin Millejours, who finished with one goal. Millejours scored 29 seconds into the third period to make the score 2-1 Niagara Falls. Colton Anstey provided the assist.

Niagara Falls put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Fort Erie to score on any of its nine power plays. The Meteors were unable to stop the Canucks from sending pucks towards the net, and Niagara Falls eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Niagara Falls also got points from Anstey, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Niagara Falls also had goals scored by Frank Pucci and Cesare Caldaroni, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Niagara Falls were Zack Lansfield, who had two and Daniel Gallagher and Trevor Simonick, who contributed one each.

Fort Erie could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 46 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Meteors were led by Dakota Miskolczi, who scored the team's only goal. Miskolczi scored 13:33 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Declan Conway assisted on the tally.

The Canucks registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Fort Erie's Liam Conway stopped 27 shots out of the 31 that he faced.
