Silverio's goals lift LaSalle to 7-2 victory over St. Thomas

The LaSalle Vipers relied on the scoring touch of Manny Silverio, who netted two goals, to beat the St. Thomas Stars, 7-2.

Silverio scored on the power play at 11:31 into the second period to make the score 3-1 LaSalle and again while 12:40 into the third to make the score 6-2 LaSalle.

St. Thomas' power play was ineffective against LaSalle's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Vipers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six St. Thomas power plays. LaSalle's offense rang up 41 shots on the Stars' net. The Vipers surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, LaSalle averages 4.3 goals per contest.

LaSalle additionally got points from Korey Morgan, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Chris Pignanelli, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Brendan Harrogate, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Brett Primeau, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Nathan Veres also scored for LaSalle. In addition, LaSalle received assists from Graham Pickard, who had two and Matt Trudel, Nicolas Crescenzi, Nick Gauvin, Nikko Sablone, Eric Kirby, Nathan Savage, and Daniel Beaudoin, who contributed one each.

Penalties took their toll on St. Thomas, as its penalty kill unit let in three power play goals.

The Stars were led by Jordan Babb, who registered one goal and one assist. Babb scored 8:21 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Thomas. Spencer Hutchinson assisted on the tally. St. Thomas also got a goal from Brett Van Dusen as well. More assists for St. Thomas came via Carson Moniz and Wade Russell, who each chipped in one.

Paolo Battisti rejected 23 shots on goal for the Vipers. LaSalle incurred 36 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Dan Black recorded 34 saves for St. Thomas. The Stars incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
