Ancaster rolls over Fort Erie, 4-1Fort Erie Leisureplex Sun, Dec 28, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Ancaster Avalanche were firing on all cylinders against the Fort Erie Meteors, and when the final buzzer sounded Avalanche emerged with a 4-1 win. Ancaster was sparked by Ryan Cox, who finished with one goal. Cox scored on the power play 7:28 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Ancaster. The Avalanche had taken the advantage when Fort Erie's Bryce Martin got sent off for interference. Alex Zaccaria provided the assist. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 10:22 into the first period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Ancaster excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Avalanche kept the Meteors' goalie busy throughout the game, and Liam Conway made 27 saves on 31 shots. Ancaster also got points from Zaccaria, who also grabbed two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Michael Faliero also scored for Ancaster. In addition, Ancaster received assists from Lucas Triemstra, who had two and Blake Richard, Chris Klack, Luke Zupan, and Ben Hughes, who contributed one each. Fort Erie was led by Holden Garlent, who scored the team's only goal. Garlent scored 5:16 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Anthony Passero assisted on the tally. Richard rejected 20 shots on goal for Ancaster. The Avalanche totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play. Ancaster ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Hayden Guitard was ejected from the game. The Meteors ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major. For Fort Erie, Paolo Sivolotti was ejected from the game.
