Caledonia holds on for 2-1 win against Ancaster

The Ancaster Avalanche tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Caledonia Corvairs held on for a 2-1 victory.

Caledonia made the score 2-0 on a goal by Jordan Peacock at 17:10 in the second period, and Ancaster got as close as 2-1 when Alex Zaccaria scored 4:36 into the third period.

The Corvairs pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 18 penalty minutes.

Caledonia was led by Peacock, who had one goal.

The Corvairs stifled the Avalanche's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Caledonia was held below its usual level of production. The Corvairs put an average of 4.5 pucks into the net per game. Caledonia's offense rang up 39 shots on Ancaster's net.

Caledonia also got a goal from Matthew Hore as well. More assists for Caledonia came via Mitch Purdie, Cosimo Fontana, Jake Brown, and Tyler Lepore, who contributed one each.

The Avalanche excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in eight chances. Ancaster's offense operated below its season average. The Avalanche average 3.4 goals per game. Ancaster could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

In addition, Ancaster received assists from Owen Burnell, who had one.

Marc Sinclair rejected 19 shots on goal for the Corvairs. Caledonia ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Connor Bramwell was ejected from the game. The Avalanche's Blake Richard stopped 37 shots out of the 39 that he faced. Ancaster registered zero goals on nine power play opportunities. For the Avalanche, Ryan Knill and Blake Luscombe were ejected from the contest.
